The S.T. Wooten Corporation's Florida asphalt plant, located in the Fort Myers-Naples area, is among the company's newest and "greenest" operations.

Featuring Astec’s latest Double-Barrel “green” drum injection system – a system used by four of our North Carolina plants – this state-of-the-art facility incorporates an increased percentage of recycled materials in the asphalt mix. This process ultimately produces asphalt at temperatures that are typically 50-80 degrees cooler than conventional hot-mix. This asphalt, in turn, requires less burner fuel and produces significantly lower emissions, both at the plant and at the job-site as well as other environmental benefits.

As customers travel down the tree-lined drive to the load-out area, it's easy to see this asphalt plant is like no other. The site itself features extensive tree and shrub plantings, water-conserving irrigation systems, a Florida Bald Cypress preserve with indigenous planting area and even an on-site preserve for a population of endangered “Gopher Tortoise.” Dedicated to raising industry standards of not only environmental sustainability but also community stewardship, S.T. Wooten Corporation designed this plant to go beyond LEED building standards and truly embody the “green” promise for the local population as well as the planet. 

Even the eye-catching asphalt storage silos are wrapped in a custom designed “green” graphic that blends with the surroundings (an industry first).

The Fort Myers plant was awarded the prestigious National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) Ecological Award for New Facilities sponsored by Roads and Bridges magazine.  The award recognizes excellence in asphalt facility operations.
